German Shorthair Puppies – We are expecting a beautiful litter of puppies soon. If you’re interested in this current litter or would like to be on our waiting list, please call 518-280-9993 or reach us via our contact page. Our puppies have been adopted by families or individuals that live within a reasonable driving distance, specifically parts of NY, MA, NJ VT, CT, PA and ME. However, some have traveled far greater distances for our German Shorthair puppies and we periodically will arrange ground transportation that will ensure a pleasant experience for the puppy/dog.
German Shorthaired Pointers (GSP) originated in….yes, you guessed it, Germany and date back to the 1800’s. They are also referred to as German Pointer, German Shorthair Pointer and GSP. At maturity, German Shorthair Pointers average 55 to 75 lbs. and 21 to 25 in. in height. They vary in color from solid liver to a combination of white, liver spotted and/or liver roan. GSP dogs can also be black, black and white, or black and ticked, although it is uncommon. Their coat is short, dense and easy to groom.
There are many German Shorhaired Pointer breeders throughout the east coast. If you’re seeking a German Shorthair breeder that is on a level all it’s own, South Side Farm will be your only choice. We offer purebred German Shorthaired puppies and periodically have available adult rescue German Shorthair Pointers. Our German Shorthaired Pointers are bred for show/pet quality and handpicked including champion bloodlines within the U.S., some directly from Germany, and always chosen for characteristics that exemplify GSP’s: willing to please, intelligent, agile, friendly and happy. German Shorthaired Pointers enjoy being with their family, are faithful and will be right by your side biking, jogging, walking, watching TV and loving every minute of it.
As with all of our breeds, German Shorthaired Pointers can get along with just about everything and everybody, but it’s important to acclimate them to whatever they may encounter. Proper socialization and training is essential for any puppy and we believe it’s absolutely necessary for our puppies to guarantee their happiness and well being. Give your new family member what it needs, and what you will get in return will be cherished.
